History of Free Me to Live
Since 1988, Free Me to Live has been a leader in providing post recovery support for those dealing with post-abortion and
related issues including rape, incest, and abuse. The original publication was called Healing the Hurts of Abortion written in 1988.
The crisis pregnancy outreach of Last Harvest Ministries, Inc. started in 1984 as the first CPC organization
to located next to an abortion clinic in North Dallas. Five women who had been through abortion and recovery recorded a tape in 1985 called "Overcoming Abortion's Aftermath."
This tape was shared on PTL television on January 22, 1987 as the program addressed the 15th anniversary of Roe V. Wade. 18,000 people requested the tape.
After thousands of telephone calls following the distribution of those tapes, Healing the Hurts of Abortion was written. The first recovery support group
was held in the counseling offices of the 700 Club in Dallas, TX in 1988. The first regional training was conducted in Dallas, TX in 1989. At that meeting,
a Men's Manual and Facilitators Manual for recovery was introduced.
Through the years, the need for a whole-person approach was apparent. Thus, a trial expanded course was conducted in East Texas with 75 women. The result of this
field test became FREE ME TO LIVE. The model was published in 1993. During the past decade, FREE ME TO LIVE has been through seven revisions
and upgrades. The book today is a field-tested, time-proven course that has helped over 20,000 break their chains in pieces.
Today FREE ME TO LIVE is available as a workbook manual for individual and group work or as an on-line, self-paced interactive e'Course. Training for
FREE ME TO LIVE is available as a distance-learning web-based training course.
