• The course has a unique history of being one of the first courses to be written from a Christian perspective.
• The course history began in 1884 as the ministry of Last Harvest opened the first pregnancy crisis pregnancy center in Dallas county to locate next door to an abortion center. Early in 1987, PTL TV had Ken Freeman as a guest for the 15th anniversary of Roe V. Wade abortion focused show. That show led 18,000 women to ask for help after their abortion experience.
• The workbook started as Healing the Hurts of Abortion and was published in 1988 just a few months after Linda Cochrane's Women in Ramah workbook had been released.
• Through the years 1988 - 1989 a mens version of the book was prepared following a mens outreach meeting with leaders from across the country. Beginning in 1989 - 1995 training seminars were held repeatedly  in Texas, Oklahoma, Illinois, Ohio, Tennesee, South Carolina, Georgia, Louisiana, and California. Over 2,500 directors and staff members were trained through these seminars.
• In 1993, the workbooks was expanded and amplified to become FREE ME TO LIVE. Between the years 1993 and 2007, the workbook has been through seven edits, updates and improvements.
• The workbook today is available as a workbook, an e-book, and as a  multi-part 60 day email-based course.
